One day after a sweaty soccer practice and I was craving for a good hamburger….
This recipe makes five 1/2 lb burger. I combine different techniques from different people on the net. Takes about 30mins from start to finish.
- 1 lb of lean sirloin ground beef (90/10)
- 1 lb of ground chuck (85/15)
- 1 cup crumble blue cheese
- 1/4 stick of butter
- 1 clove of finely chopped shallot
- 2 egg (1 egg for each lb of meat)
- 2-3 tbsp bread crumb
- Chopped parsley
Mix the ground beef with 2 egg and bread crumb (the egg and crumb prevents the meat from falling off when you grill). Add chopped shallot, msg, salt , crushed pepper, cayenne powder, paprika, chopped parsley and 2 teaspoon of A-1 steak sauce to taste. Use a wooden spat or a fork to mix, don’t use the hand because the heat from your hand will melt the fat in the ground beef (so I was told ). Mix the crumble blue cheese and butter. Form 5 patties or smaller if you prefer smaller burger. Stuff the blue cheese/butter mix in the middle of the patty. Press and make a dent in the middle of the patty so when you grill the burger it doesn’t blow up. I like mine thick and juicy . Leave the patties in the fridge for 15 mins while preparing other stuff.
Cook the bacon, I use one bacon for each burger. The excess fat I use to sauteed some slice baby bella mushrooms. Add some thymes. When the mushroom start to caramelize, add a little salt, a little butter, black pepper and some red white. Cook for two mins to drain the liquid.
Grill the burger about 6 mins on each side on med high heat. DO NOT press the patty as the juice come out. When almost done add a slice of swiss cheeze on top. Let it sit on the grill for another 30 seconds
I also grill some slice of eggplant drizzle with some EVOO (really sweet and delicious), some salt and pepper. You can also add grill onion for better taste
For the burger sauce I mix 2 tbsp of mayo, 1 tbsp dijon mustard, some thousand island salad dressing and a little Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce. This sauce is very similar to the In & out sauce, only better .
Don’t forget to warm up the bun in the grill. Top it with the patty, add tomato, lettuce, grill eggplant, bacon, sauteed mushroom, sauce and make passionate love to it with your hungry mouth
It was probably one of the best burger my kids ever had (so they told me) . Sorry I didn’t take any pictures along the way but the next time I make it, I’ll have step by step pictures to put on my new food blog.
